Movie Review: Sing (2016)

Rating: PG (for some rude humor and mild peril)

Genre: Animation, Comedy, Musical &

             Performing arts

Directed by: Garth Jennings, Christopher Lourdelet

Runtime: 108 minutes

In 2016, I watched an animation called “Sing”, directed by Garth Jennings. There were many big names that participated in the production of this movie. Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Hudson and Tori Kelly to name a few. This film begins with Buster Moon (a very dapper looking koala) and his prized jewel, the AMC theater.

Buster Moon,  delusional yet optimistic, the impresario of the AMC theater, plans the world’s greatest singing competition to save the theater that has fallen on difficult times and restore it to its former glory. Five contestants: a suave mouse, a shy elephant, a flamboyant pig, a soulful gorilla and a punk-rock porcupine, makes the cut and joins the competition that changes their lives forever.

Overall, I would say I enjoyed the movie immensely. From the graphics to the storyline, the music, and choreography, everything was perfectly executed. It’s a wonderful family movie that gives you all those feel-good vibes.

If you haven’t watched Sing yet, then I highly recommend that you do. In fact, turn it into a family affair and bring your friends and family along. I guarantee it’s a movie you never want to miss! You’ll find yourself bobbing your head and tapping your feet throughout the entire movie. You might even leave the theater with smiles on your faces (at least I did). No regrets. 10/10 will watch this again.
